OK This is for you old school gamers out there. I've been waiting for this movie to come out since I was 12!

Yeah I was not particularly impressed with the character sketches... and I suspect you might be right that they will turn it into a kids movie probably never hit the big screen just be a strait to video sort of thing, but I can cross my fingers and hope it will be more.

Dragonlance is the soap opera of D&D -- I don't think adults will be able to tolerate it well, in the end...

Yeah, I loved that series when I was 15. I went back, and was stunned by the childish drivel of it all. I still love a few characters, but the...genericness of the plots and situations hurts. I'll watch the movie anyway if it does hit the shelves for Raistlin, Tas, and Tanis.

I'm sure you meant to say "the brilliantly written interplay between Tanis, Flint, and Tasslehoff..."

          AND

"The awesome subplot between Raistlin, Caramon, and Fistandantalus..."

right...? That IS what you meant to say isn't it...? ;-)

Um...no. I would have said that when I was fifteen though.

I'm impressed by some of the cast choices; I'm eager to see Kiefer Sutherland's take on Raislin <delighted shiver>. I really do hope this does well enough to justify the second two of the War of the Lance trilogy, though I'm not sure I'd sit through the Legends adaptation. Okay, maybe so if Kiefer were still involved....

Indeed, but even in such a mundane role as the lead thug of "Stand by Me," he exudes menace in a way no creature-feature monster does so well. Even moreso, check out his role in "Dark City" for a truly demented/deranged performance--between those two roles, I think, we would find the best exhibition of Sutherland's Raistlin.
