Sun, January 16, 2005 - 3:02 PMI generally avoid a game in which it is basically assured that your character will become insane. -

Sun, January 23, 2005 - 11:53 PMGreat game, campaigns can be hilarious.
Nice parts of Call of Chulhu --
If your character dies, you say "Yep, well" and make a new one.
You can have a 95% ability.
It's pretty clear you aint gonna win, but you have a mighty fun time anyway.
I played in a game where we had a melee with a bowl of soup.
PEACE!

Mon, January 24, 2005 - 4:03 PMI fondly recall an adventure where I played an elderly Irish nun, whose only weapon was a 12" ruler. Accompanied by a gunslinger and a private eye, I was the only one who survived the game.
Because I RAN AWAY.

Sat, July 2, 2005 - 6:28 PMBeen running since '95. My problem is getting my players out of the mindset that its pointless and thus not worth playing. Though 5.5 has begin to turn away from teh dead or crazy outlook, my players are still whining. -

Re: Call Of Cthulhu
Sun, July 3, 2005 - 8:12 PMCoC is a truely great game where alot of players learn the joys of losing! Roleplaying isn't video games. In video games the end is a foregone conclusion, no matter what you do it always turns out the same; and you almost always play the hero.. and you're always supposed to win. Call of Cthulu shows us that that's not all there is to gaming. Maybe you're not going to win, but will you do along the way? how will the end turn out? will you be able to effect the outcome even a little?
this is why even though its not the most popular game, its still around after all these years. -

Wed, July 6, 2005 - 5:12 AMI think you have to have the right Keeper. Otherwise it is frustrating. My favorite character is still my first one. I rolled up a beefy bod stat, so he became a pro wrestler Bruce "The Beef" Wellington. We had an awesome keeper, so we didn't mind our characters darker fates, as it was always entertaining as to exactly how they left the world of reality.

Re: Call Of Cthulhu
Thu, August 3, 2006 - 6:36 PMI have a Sunday game in SSF that is just starting out. The GM is a close friend who asked me when she first began, "Should I run COC d20? Everyone already knows the system, right?"
I said, "Everyone knows the original too, dear. At least, everyone of any import."
I was just joking, but I got serious later and told her about how serious the license was taken by some people.
And that nothing was wrong with the original game...and that Chaosium had the blessings of August Delerth and his boys, which Wizards cannot claim, even by association.
She jumped in with both feet and never looked back. She's running a game based on Secrets of San Francisco, for starters, 1920s setting. A few experienced players would be very nice.
Let me know if you are interested, it's from 12noon Sundays to about 5pm. -
